So I’m currently midway through Season 3 of Ginny & Georgia. And I understand that in some ways, it’s like every other American teen drama but in other ways, it’s a reflection of the darkest elements of society. Georgia Miller is a survivor who had to resort to murder and violence to keep her family safe.
And yes, the entirety of season 3 revolves around her killing Tom Fuller, who arguably, isn’t related to her family in any way and did nothing to deserve being killed. But he was also at the end of his life. He wasn’t going to survive either way. Keeping him alive was an act of harm in and of itself. It wasn’t for him. It was because his family couldn’t let him go.
So I understand her perspective. I understand wanting to cut that string so it didn’t drag on. I don’t think it was her choice. I don’t think she should’ve done it. But it’s also not that clear cut. This is not a black-and-white situation. Especially considering this is fiction.
Georgia Miller Caused More Good Than Harm By Killing Her First Two Husbands

Kenny Drexel and Anthony Greene were not only horrible husbands but they were predators. Sure, Georgia could’ve escaped them, but even if she had, it’s very unlikely she could’ve brought them to justice using the law. And considering they were intentionally targeting those in vulnerable positions, if she didn’t kill them, they would’ve hurt someone else.
Now, obviously, I’m not promoting murder. But again, this isn’t a clear cut situation. Georgia Miller is a survivor. Georgia Miller did what she had to do because society failed her. The fact of the matter is, there are many women in her position, and a lot of them are killed.
Georgia Miller just happened to be skilled enough to do it first. And you seriously cannot convince me that a grown adult who married a teenager & a grown adult who inappropriately touched a teenager don’t deserve to die. As far as I’m concerned, Georgia Miller can take out all the paedophiles of the world.
The Way Wellsbury Treated Austin, Ginny & Georgia Is Horrific

Now, I understand being genuinely concerned for your safety if you believe a killer is on the loose. But I also believe in innocent until proven guilty. You are well within your rights to take reasonable measures to keep yourself safe. And if you believe there is a dangerous person within your community, you should speak out.
But harassing and punishing children is never okay. It’s not okay for Cynthia to act all concerned about Georgia’s kids when she told her son not to be friends with Austin. In fact, she started the chain reaction that caused Austin to end up in custody of his abusive father. And I understand her grief but she made her choice. Acting the concerned parental figure to Georgia’s children, after indirectly harming them, is inappropriate.
[I said, while midway through the season. By the end, I did genuinely appreciate Cynthia’s intervention. She really stepped in for Ginny and she did what could to protect Austin. But I still wish she hadn’t told her son not to be friends with Austin. And whether she intended it or not, she should’ve known that Georgia going to prison would result in Austin ending up with an abusive man].
It’s not okay for reporters to harass those kids at home and at their school. It was not okay for influencers to treat their story like a reality show. And yet, that’s exactly how it goes. How many times have you heard a true crime obsessed TikToker make light of murder? For actual murder cases, there are real people involved within these stories.
Even if they truly believed Georgia Miller to be a monster, dragging her kids into it was never okay.
And what is up with that psychologist? You can’t diagnose someone you’ve never treated. And why is narcisssictic personality disorder constantly thrown around? Sure, some of what the psychologist said was accurate but going on TV and making up diagnoses without ever seeing the patient was completely unethical.
Most of the reporting on Georgia Miller was sensationalised and framed to get clicks and likes. And it didn’t help bring justice because at the end of the day: it’s innocent until proven guilty and no one should be deciding the outcome except the Judge and Jury involved within the case. And all it did was hurt, not just Georgia but also, the children.
Austin and Ginny Should’ve Stayed With Georgia

We all know that Gil Timmins is a manipulative, abusive piece of shit. Sure, Georgia may have framed him but she only framed him for what he was already doing. And he was abusing her. She did what she did to survive. He wasn’t a safe person for her or her children. And he would’ve killed her if she didn’t get him out of the picture.
But Zion Miller was a neglectful father. Georgia may have taken Ginny away temporarily but past that first time, he was aware of where she was. And the only times he ever made an attempt to keep Ginny in his life, he did nothing to protect Georgia from his parents. She only left because she was terrified of losing her child.
And then when they were both adults, and he had the opportunity to be in Ginny’s life, he made no attempt to be a permanent fixture. He showed up every now and again on his motorcycle and that was the extent of his parenting.
And then he went and caused Georgia to lose custody, despite having no idea of the real situation. His own daughter didn’t trust him enough to tell him what was going on and she told Marcus! That just goes to show how involved he’s been in her life.
And when he has the chance to parent Ginny, he fails spectacularly. Not just that, but he causes Austin to go back to his abusive father. He did zero research. And didn’t at all take his child’s feelings into consideration.
Georgia Miller was many things but she was never a risk to her kids. In fact, she was one of the few people doing her all to keep them safe. Removing her children from her care put them at risk. It endangered them.
Final Thoughts
Despite my frustrations with the characters, I love this show. I even forced my boyfriend to sit through it with me and he absolutely hates it. He has admitted to me that he’ll watch pretty much anything else (except Emily In Paris, another show I’ve forced him to sit through).
But it’s a good show. It’s popular because of its’ compelling characters. I may have been frustrated by Ginny to begin with but she’s also a teenager. And that’s completely normal. And I understand Georgia’s motivations. She had the strength to do what many couldn’t.
And that is exactly how she survived. That’s exactly how she kept her family safe (for the most part).
